    William Segraves, Jr. was named as a witness to the sale of 140 acres of land in Northampton County, North Carolina on Great Branch sold by William Segraves, Sr. and his wife, Sarah, to William Webb of Isle of Wight County, Virginia. This land was part of a 640 acre land grant to Joseph Parsons in 1740. Other witnesses included: George Barclay and James Faison, Jr.

    William Segraves, Jr. purchased land from Thomas Burk and his wife, Mary, in Northampton County, North Carolina. Part of this land is located in Wicocana Swamp. This land appears to be land Thomas Burk received as a Granville Land Grant. Witnesses: George Burk, William Burk, & Nathan Pierce.

    Based on later land sales, William Segraves, Jr. married a Mary, probably either in Northampton Co., North Carolina or in Isle of Wight Co., Virginia. No record of that marriage has been found. Since he was in Isle of Wight Co., VA in 1756 and possibly before that, Virginia has been assumed for the place of his marriage.
